Road & Air Conditions, Vehicles Apps in Cambodia | You Need to Know
Generally, Cambodia has air that is conducive for living, with its warm temperatures throughout the year. However, the air quality can change with seasonal changes or local activities, like construction and burning of fields and crops. It is a good idea to check the air pollution levels before arrival or during your stay. You could use applications such as AirVisual or Plume Labs for this purpose. You will definitely enjoy a tropical climate, but you may miss the fresh winter air of cooler countries. So, let’s explore Cambodia’s Weather
Road Conditions
Most important topic of Cambodia’s Weather. Before COVID-19, the road conditions were terrible, especially in rural areas. Many of them were broken with big potholes, and it takes a lot of time. In the last two years, though, there has been a big improvement; the roads are more nicely paved, new highways connect key cities, and traveling is faster and smoother. For example, what used to take me 7 hours now only takes 2.5 to 3 hours with the improved roads.
Useful Online Travel Apps
On the ride-booking front, two of the most prominent apps in Cambodia are PassApp and Grab. While PassApp covers most cities, Grab doesn’t go outside of Phnom Penh. Both bring a level of ease to booking tuk-tuks, remorques, and cars.
Other useful apps
Booking.com – for accommodation bookings
Agoda – to book hotels
CamboTicket – for purchasing bus and ferry tickets
Trip.com: for flights, hotels, and packages.
Tips to Book with Apps
Don’t Add Your Payment Account: Linking your credit card to these apps is better not to be done. Some drivers might have accepted the booking but never turn up, yet the amount will be deducted. Such frauds can be avoided if one pays in cash.Quoted Price Is Quoted Price: This is the final price of your fare as seen in the app. If a driver asks you for more money, politely decline and show them this price in the app. Both PassApp and Grab have active support teams to handle disputes
Vehicles to Utilize in Cambodia
Tuk-tuks
Tuk-tuks are affordable and great for short trips around the city. They’re widely available in cities like Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and booking one can give you an authentic Cambodian experience. However, if you’re living on a hill, it’s better to book a car instead as tuk-tuks struggle with inclines.
Remorque- Tuk-tuk Alternative
The remorque or tuk-tuk is ideal for casual trips around the city. Remorque is inexpensive and highly suitable for local trips in the city, especially in Phnom Penh. I can hire a remorque to have a gentle day out in the capital. On the beach sides, though, they may not be so easily available, so it’s better to plan accordingly.
SUV
SUV For a more comfortable and safer ride, especially when carrying luggage or traveling long distances, SUVs are a solid choice. They offer stability on bumpy roads and plenty of room for passengers and luggage, making them perfect for adventures outside the city. If you’re traveling as a group or going to rural areas, consider booking an SUV. Conclusion Either in terms of air breathed or roads traveled, immense improvements in infrastructural development and travel services have been made in Cambodia, thus easing the way people and visitors get about-much safer and more comfortable. With the right vehicles and best travel apps, you will be having smooth and enjoyable exploration Cambodia’s Weather.
